Great Hooks Aren't Written, They're Stolen: 10 That Did 50M+ Views

I pulled 10 short-form videos that each did between 1 and 12 million views, transcribed the exact opening line word for word, and turned every one into a template you can use this week. The videos are embedded so you can watch each hook land.

I'm Ben, founder of Trueframe. Over the last 4 years I've:

  • Generated 7 figures in revenue with organic content, for myself and clients
  • Built paid ad creative systems that have driven 8 figures in sales
  • Scaled my own businesses past $1M in revenue
  • Coached and built content engines for 20+ founders
  • Produced a $2.1M launch day off a 6-month content campaign

The hook is the most important line you'll write all week.

Change nothing else. Same video, same edit, same topic. Just swap the first sentence, and a video that would've done 500 views does 50,000 instead. The first line decides whether anyone sees the second one. That's the whole game.

So I pulled 10 short-form videos that each did between 1 and 12 million views, transcribed the exact opening line word for word, and turned every one into a fill-in-the-blank template you can use this week. For each hook you get the template, the original line that actually went viral, two ways to use it in a totally different niche, and the real video so you can watch it land.

Steal the structure. Swap in your topic. Post. Here are all 10.

Hook 1: Time-compression authority

It took me [long timeframe] to learn this, but I'll teach it to you in [short timeframe].

A hook gets the click. Then what?

That's the 10. But a hook with nothing behind it just wastes the view. The founders who actually win short-form treat the whole video as one piece: hook, story, payoff, and a reason to come back tomorrow. If you want the format side of that equation, I broke down five complete video formats in the companion post.

The short version

  • The first line decides whether anyone sees the second one. It's the highest-leverage sentence in the video.
  • Every hook here is a structure, not a sentence. Swap in your topic and it's yours.
  • Authority, urgency, contrast, and callout are the four engines underneath all 10.
  • Pick 2 or 3 templates that fit how you talk and rotate them. Repetition builds delivery.
  • Save this page. Next time you're staring at a blank script, pick a template and fill in the blanks.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really okay to steal someone else's hook?
You're stealing the structure, not the words. "It took me 10 years to learn this, but I'll teach it to you in one minute" is a template, not a sentence anyone owns. Every creator on this list is using structures that existed before them. Copy the skeleton, swap in your topic, and the result is original content.
How much does the hook actually matter compared to the rest of the video?
The first line decides whether anyone sees the second one. Same video, same edit, same topic, but a stronger first sentence can be the difference between 500 views and 50,000. It's the highest-leverage edit you can make, because it costs one sentence and changes the outcome of the entire video.
Do these hooks work outside the niches in the examples?
That's the point of templating them. Each hook below comes with two rewrites in completely different niches, from dental to real estate to sales, to show the structure transfers. The mechanics (authority, urgency, contrast, callout) are universal. Only the topic changes.
Should I use a different hook for every video?
No. Pick two or three that fit how you naturally talk and rotate them. Hooks are a skill, and you get better at a structure by repeating it. Spreading across all 10 at once means you never develop the delivery that makes any of them land.
